François-Paul Journe founded his Geneva manufacture in 1999 under the pledge “Invenit et Fecit” — invented and made. Early tourbillons with constant-force remontoires and the Chronomètre à Résonance proved that independent watchmaking could deliver radical chronometry in small-series production.
Journe calibres balance experimentation with day-to-day wear. Manual-wind Souveraine movements use remontoirs and deadbeat seconds for razor-stable amplitude, while Octa automatics pair off-centre rotors with twin barrels for 120 hours of autonomy. Even LineSport references keep 18k rose-gold bridges inside featherlight titanium and aluminium-lithium cases.
Annual production remains around nine hundred watches across Geneva and Meyrin ateliers, where bridges are anglaged by hand, components are black-polished, and every piece is regulated in six positions before delivery. Boutique-level transparency and limited runs keep demand well ahead of supply.
Core collections express the maison’s character: Souveraine for hand-wound chronometers, Octa for long-running automatics, LineSport for lightweight complications, the electromechanical Elegante for daily ease, and Black Label boutique exclusives for stealthy platinum executions.
